USNA Leadership Conference
Annapolis, MD - January 15 - 17, 2003

I was selected to attend (along with six other UNL students) a leadership conference that brought students together from all of the country's service academies as well as from civilian instiutions from all around the nation. For more information about the conference, go to the conference's Web site.

The interior of Room 257 at the Loews Annapolis Hotel. This hotel has some of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept on, and I highly recommend both the hotel and the city of Annapolis; it's a great place to visit.

The University of Nebraska delegation stands in front of the Nebraska state flag in Mahan Hall. From left to right, we are: Dr. D'Vee Buss, Midshipman 1/C Scott Scherer (our unofficial guide during the conference), myself, Jocelyn Robertshaw, Blake Anderson, Mandy Adams, Nick Kepler, and Camilo Ramirez. Not pictured is Alissa Axford.

The stage in the auditorium at Mahan Hall, where we listened to speakers on Thursday and Friday (January 16-17).

For our closing dinner, we had a "banquet" in the Bo Coppedge Room in Alumni Hall (which is also their large auditorium/basketball arena). Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of the midshipmen dining in King Hall (it's one of the largest dining halls in the world) the day previously.

The view of Dorsey Creek as it passes past the Naval Academy.

A naval architecture lab in the basement of Rickover Hall. Here, the midshipmen test ship designs in several large tanks that replicate different ocean conditions.
