I think Bill Clinton is the gold standard for political speechifying.  The man was amazing.  Sure, on a personal level he's a bottom-dwelling scum-sucker, but anyone who tries to say that his speech wasn't an incredibly good job of politics...they're deluding themselves.  I think you hit it dead on.

What really peeved me about his speech though (as a Republican), was when he claimed Democrats were the party of personal empowerment! Argh!  ::sighs::  Alas, more of that on my soapbox, later.

Anyhoo, I'm glad to see you're writing online...you'll be top of my blogroll.</description>
