Advanced Warning 1:

I’m about 95% sure that I’ll move this blog from Blogger’s hosting service to my Web site in the next 7-10 days.

I’ll post another warning when the move is imminent (when it’s

One of the more amusing side benefits to come out of my Wikipedia obsession of late is that I have a rekindled desire to improve on my craptacular knowledge of Spanish, if for no other reason than to be able to read and to occasionally improve on articles in the Spanish Wikipedia. In some ways, I’m quite excited at the thought of doing so; after all, Spanish syntax and grammar aren’t terribly different than that of English, and vocabulary is trivial to find when needed. However, the depressing reality remains that, even if I were to plunge into this effort, I wouldn’t be able to communicate in anything other than in a horribly stilted fashion. The immense number of everyday phrases that follow informal grammar rules and word usage/meanings that don’t precisely match up with dictionary definitions means that I’d have to immerse myself into Spanish for years (if not decades) to reach an approximately natural communication state.

In any case, if you know any languages besides English (at any level beyond the barest of competencies), you should consider contributing to Wikipedia in those languages. Chances are, any articles about places or people in your local area are either sorely lacking in content or nonexistent.

It’s time once again for everybody’s favorite blog post, dream reports.

If nothing else, the sheer dichotomy between the dreams I had last night is highly amusing. Dream 1 involved some sort of parasitic bug/worm scurrying and multiplying beneath the skin in my legs. No matter how hard I hit the bugs in my legs with my hands or with other objects, I couldn’t kill them. Just as it became obvious that I wouldn’t be able to fend them off, I woke up. After spending far too long convincing myself in my half-awake state that the previous dream wasn’t real, I went back to sleep. Dream 2 was a cute, innocent dream where I walked around downtown Lincoln and visited a girl who worked at a restaurant. We’d flirt and cuddle, and I gave her a peck on the cheek; at that point in the dream, I woke up for good. The latter dream continues a pattern that began over a year ago; any dreams I have concerning romantic entanglement have become, well, very chaste.

All in all, it’s slightly odd.

It’s been unusually hot the past week…a wave of 90°-plus days just shouldn’t stick around Nebraska into October. However, when such weather oddities do occur, they tend to end very dramatically. Last night at 11 p.m., it was still 80° here in Lincoln; my sister in Rapid City called to tell me that it was 30° and light snow was falling. As I type this, there’s a 30° temperature difference across the state.

I do like hot weather and all, but it’s just not as much fun when the sun isn’t out long enough to enjoy it for several hours in the evening.

This week, I’ve kicked off the 2005 edition of “Find Me a Job”. Unlike the 2004 edition, this year has already produced results; I have a (phone) interview with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency Friday morning. I’ve also started the process (in at least some small fashion) with Union Pacific, Sprint, First National Bank of Omaha and Microsoft. I’ll spam some additional companies with my resume over the weekend, and go from there.
