Regardless of how the Nebraska general elections turn out in November, the biggest story of the 2006 Nebraska elections will be Tom Osborne’s loss in the Republican gubernatorial primary. Now, I have heard many people explain the various reasons why they chose to vote for or against him, but the most unusual reason I’ve heard for a vote against Osborne was that he would try to eliminate Sunday sales of alcohol if elected governor. I do not remember Osborne making any statement to that effect, nor can i find any mention of it elsewhere on the Internet (news sites, other blogs, policy groups, etc.).

I’ve heard this particular reason given independently by two people. Did anyone else hear this rumor? If so, does anyone know where and when it originated?

  1. I never heard that…that seems like a slightly silly thing to base a vote off of anyway.
