I Note Things in Lincoln
A quick rundown in the “close to home” department:
- The downtown Taco Bueno opened last week;
- The Hurricane (which existed for < 3 months as Flashback Dance Club) now serves food during lunch as Pastabilities (which I didn’t realize exists elsewhere in Lincoln);
- Brown Baggers also opened last week (once again, I didn’t realize exists elsewhere in Lincoln);
- A Husker home game-only bar is now (whose name currently escapes me) in the location most recently occupied by The Melting Spot.

Man I hate to be negative, but I am really unimpressed by Taco Bueno. I had several hard shell tacos there the other night (the staple of any industrialized/Americanized Mexican food chain) and it was pretty darn bland. Worse, the salsa they had there to put on it to cancel out the blandness was not hot or spicy, but sweet, almost like that sugary sweetness aftertaste that ketchup has. Sweet salsa is not my thing man.
I don’t think I will be going back anytime soon. If I want industrialized/Americanized Mexican food, I will just head over to Taco John’s or Taco Hell.
